Marth's appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series was one of the most important moments for the Fire Emblem franchise, as it was the first time many gamers outside of Japan were exposed to the series. Both characters were originally considered to be part of the Super Smash Bros. official roster, but each ended up making their official debuts a few years later in 2001's Super Smash Bros.
